My Colortrac Smart LF+E 42” scanner stopped working back in May. After installing some expensive parts (main board and LED lamps) I still could not get the scanner to work. I could get no one to remote in and run some diagnostics that may have identified the problem at hand and a plan for repair. The machine was purchased brand new in 2011, two years after manufacture ceased for this model. Support ran out in 2014 so I was left in a very difficult position. That was until I happened upon the website of Large Document Solutions based in Centennial, Colorado. After explaining my situation to them, Mike did a remote login, ran some diagnostics and asked me to make some physical adjustments. He made sure that my firmware and program software were up-to-date. When a new board is installed in this scanner it defaults to a 56 inch scanning width. To someone not familiar with this fact it is easy to miss. Mike spotted this problem and reset the firmware to a 42 inch scanning width. We made a normalization run, followed by a successful test scan. Wow what can I say? For starts, I appreciate the fact that the folks at Large Document Solutions, without any hesitation, toke the time to help solve my long running problem. Mike was very patient with me and his explanations have given me a better understanding of this high tech piece of equipment. My only regret is that I had not found them sooner. I certainly would highly recommend them for anyone requiring scanning services.
